Book presentation Optimist's Telescope

“The unknown can always be scary. But in this wise, eye-opening, and hopeful book, Bina Venkataraman shows us the ways we can think more clearly and strategically about the future - in our communities, our families, and in our own lives.”

— Arianna Huffington, founder of The Huffington Post and bestselling author

Value for Good in partnership with the Harvard Alumni Club of Berlin, the Aspen Institute of Germany, and Dussmann would like to invite you to a book discussion to ring in the new year with optimism: featuring Bina Venkataraman, author of the New York Times and Financial Times acclaimed book "The Optimist's Telescope".

Covering a wide range of relevant societal topics including controlling infectuous diseases, working towards sustainable fishing and agricultural practices and preparing for natural disasters such as floods and tsunamis, Bina Venkataraman's book highlights the important skill of developing effective foresight - at the individual, organisational, and societal level - and presents strategies for doing so with engaging storytelling backed up by scientific research.

A celebrated speaker, Bina Venkataraman has addressed dozens of organisations, including TED, the Aspen Ideas Festival, New America, Center for American Progress, Fermilab, the American Academy for the Advancement of Science, among others. She teaches at MIT and is the Editorial Page Editor of The Boston Globe.

We look forward to welcoming you on January 30th.
