Jan Krawitz on Documentary Filmmaking: Another Kind of Storytelling

Reading and writing skills are essential for educational and professional success. Yet
despite our reliance on media for an understanding of the world around us, the concept
of visual literacy is often taken for granted. Through a discussion of her Approach to
directing documentary films, Jan Krawitz will provide insights into the many ways in
which Nonfiction films are a construction of the filmmaker, rather than a representation
of “reality.” She can provide us with a new perspective on how to be more conscious and
critical consumers of visual information.

Once again we were delighted to invite another four of our Book Prize Winner. Layan Baé and Esrah Hreich form the Theodor-Heuss Gymnasium who were very much impressed by our guest speaker but also our guests "It was a pleasure to meet such interesting and nice people who gave us the opportunity to feel special on this evening. It was a great and special chance to see another perspective of the life and how important the work can be. We thank everyone for that great evening and the great experience."

Lennard Höschler and Clara Uktar our other two Book Prize Winner from the Leonardo Da Vinci Gymnasium also experienced a wonderful evening with a fantastic speach from Dr. Krawitz and engaging conversations with our guest. "I had a wonderful evening, and time went by a little to quickly. It was definitely one of the best experiences I have had so far, and I am very thankful for it."
