The German Ethics Council,  together with the Standing Committee on vaccination and National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina developed the ethical framework for the currently established rules in Germany. 

Even after regulatory decisions have been taken by the government, the debate goes on because these decisions touch on fundamental ethical issues, and can under some circumstances directly affect the health and life (or death) of individuals. 

​​​​​​​Alena Buyx, Chair of the Ethics Council and Harvard Alum, will explain the logic behind the list, elaborate on the difficult ethical foundations for the prioritization decisions and discuss current questions and challenges.
