Harvard Leaderhip Dinner II
On 25 February 2010, the Harvard Club of Berlin hosted its second leadership dinner at the Hilton entitled 'Leading a social network' .The speaker was Mr. Markus Berger-de León who was the CEO of VZnet Netwerke Ltd from 2009 to February 2010. This is the umbrella firm for such platforms as StudiVZ, Schüler VZ and Mein VZ popular in Germany and comparable to Facebook in the US.
Salient to Mr. Berger-de León's discussion about the German based network was the adherence of VZnet to German privacy laws. He explained explicitly how VZnet members are protected from third party sales and honor its users security and personal content. While Facebook allows for third parties to lease its users' content without their knowledge, VZnet developed a platform in which personal security according to German laws plays a vital role. An hour long question period ensued indicating the keen public interest in the subject, citing social networkers from the Philippines to Harvard Square.
Members of Cornell, Columbia, Yale and Brown were present during the evening, widening the scope of the Harvard Club's initiatives.
